The Shop opened its doors in March 2017 and is situated in a charmingly rustic building along Voortrekker Street in the quaint town of Philippolis. Said to be one of the oldest buildings in the Free State it is estimated to have been built in the 1860’s.

The Shop aims to provide visitors with the opportunity to explore the antiquities of yesteryear at their leisure – this is a venue where people who have an interest in collectable; books, fine art, antique furniture and Persian carpets can peruse and purchase these unique items at very competitive prices.

 

Our remarkable book collection is categorised into 1st Edition novels, Ethnology, Art, Palaeontology, Education, Astronomy, Aquatic, Rock Art, Archaeology, Fauna, Flora, General Interest and Travel. The shop boasts over 800 volumes of precious literature.

All the antique furniture found at The Shop is genuine and the collectables range from eccentric to extraordinary. This large selection comprises items such as; old “sad” irons, vintage dolls, enamel plates, bowls and mugs.
