Furniture has been implemented by humankind, ever since the dawn of civilization, predating prehistoric times where natural objects were used as rudimentary pieces of furniture. Today furniture comes in all shapes, forms, colours and styles - but certain periods in history saw the rise of very particular fashions.

Here is a simplified timeline of some ‘noteworthy eras in furniture history:

Ancient Egyptian (3000-2000 BC)

Ancient Greek (2000 - 300 BC)

Medieval (500 - 1450 AD)

Colonial (1500 - 1754 AD)

Rococo (1725 - 1775 AD)

Revival (1800 -1900 AD)
